High Drive in the Virus Economy:
What we are still doing, what's on hold, and how you can help us weather the storm

Holy heck, this is a crazy time! We know this is stressful for everyone. The uncertainty surrounding the virus, how long we will be living like this, the state of the economy, and, last but not least, the matter of staying healthy throughout is weighing heavily on all of us. We feel it every day and know you all do too.

We also feel fortunate that we get to come to work every day meeting the needs of the dogs in our care, helping to keep them stable, balanced, and confident - and exercised! - through this. Sharing in the joy and laughter they give to us each day bolsters our spirits, and we hope you are finding that joy with your pups through this as well. We definitely need to post daily pictures and videos of the shenanigans the pups in our kennels are up to so you all can enjoy it with us! We'll get on that :)

First and foremost I want to say all of us at High Drive want each of you to be safe and healthy through this, and we take our responsibility in promoting that safety seriously, and as much as we want to be able to resume all our activities with you as soon as possible, we will remain committed to putting safety first always.

To that end all group classes, client play groups, and private sessions are currently suspended per the statewide order of no groups of any size congregating. As information comes from the state changing that policy to allow groups coming together again, we will let everyone know when and how these services can resume.

As a dog boarding facility, we are designated a "critical business" by the Colorado Department of Agriculture so our day boarding (aka daycare), overnight boarding, and board & train services are still happening. At drop off and pickup for these services, folks are maintaining at least 6 feet of distance and we have a new way of handing off the dogs to our staff that also has at least 6 feet of distance between us and you, and everything is getting properly sanitized between each client.

For our current and past clients who are maintaining their income through this, we do highly recommend you think about daycare or boarding with us, especially if you have a dog with low confidence issues, to help keep them stable, balanced, and confident. Humans staying home all day every day for a length of time like this, then going back to work without having some concentrated efforts to keep our pups balanced will likely result in some behavior problems in the dogs on the other side of this. Having them spend even one day a week with us through this can be such a huge help for them to stay balanced and help them when transitioning back to the normal routines!

Many of you have asked how you can help support High Drive through the Virus Economy, and we are so grateful for this! Boarding while humans travel, group classes, private sessions, and client play groups all make up about 75% of our revenue stream. Those are all gone right now so we are definitely struggling. Some folks don't know this, but 30 rescue dogs live in our kennels and the High Drive staff takes care of them daily at no charge to the rescues for our labor in caring for them. In an effort to bring in some of this lost revenue, we’re offering some special deals. If you’re a current or past training client, check out our page for discounts on pre-paid boarding nights and play group packs: https://www.highdrivedogco.com/boarding-play-group-packs. Or stock up on daycare packs to use now or later: https://www.highdrivedogco.com/daycare

*A reminder that boarding, daycare, and play groups are available to existing or past training clients only.

Lastly, as you may have heard there has been some panic buying of things that are vital to keeping a kennel clean and sanitized. We have people going out each morning scouting for these items, but if you have any extras here are some things we could use to keep meeting the needs of the rescue dogs and client dogs staying with us:

- Bleach

- Paper towels

- Disinfecting wipes (that specifically list coronavirus as something it kills)

- Hand sanitizer

- Baby wipes (two of our rescues have spina bifida and wear diapers)

- Money

- Beer

Anything and everything helps us to continue to provide often life-saving training for dogs and their humans, and helps us continue to house, care for, and find homes for the 30 rescue dogs of Dogs Unbroken, Moe Moe’s, and Brighter Days.

Thank you for supporting your locally owned small businesses, now and always. We appreciate you! We will get through this! Stay healthy and remember to go outside (at safe distances) because the sun is good for us!
